Karl, you’ve been an entrepreneur in the web3 space from its inception. How has web3 changed and shaped e-gaming thus far?
The advent of the NFT protocol marked the beginning of web3 gaming. Enabling verifiable and decentralized ownership of assets in the game enabled new business models for game companies and new game models and mechanics for players. With ownership shifting to customers, gamers are more likely to invest money and time in video games, increasing stickiness.
1)What role does Planet IX play in this situation?
Planet IX strives to be at the forefront of web3 gaming growth. In contrast to many of our competitors, we are entirely on-chain, meaning that all of our game’s assets are coined and belong to our clients.
We’ve been a portal for onboarding customers to web3, with significant time and resources devoted on teaching and guiding customers in their adoption of the technology since the beginning. As our clients become more aware of the technology, we are always evolving and improving, introducing new protocols, new options, and new companions.
2)As a Swedish company, could you share insights into e-gaming in Scandinavia?
Scandinavia has a strong gaming tradition, with numerous tier-1 studios situated in the region. Nonetheless, because Sweden is not at the forefront of blockchain, our headquarters are in Zug, Switzerland. This way, we can ensure that we fully comply with all local regulations while tapping into Sweden’s vast experience pool.
3)Because of ChatGPT, there may be a lot of talks regarding AI. How will AI shape gaming on the blockchain?
Like many others, the gaming or web3 sector is bound to be disrupted. At Nibiru, we use it as a standalone course in copywriting, visual design, or code optimization. While we are still a long way from having it function autonomously, it has shown to be an excellent tool for reinforcing processes and making work more environmentally friendly.
4)How does ownership of assets in the gaming industry affect player engagement and gaming experience? What are some of its disadvantages?
Transferring ownership to the players will improve stickiness, money and time spent, and individual competence when done correctly. However, the sport’s tokenomics (the economics of the token) must be created as an integral and built-in part of the sport, boosting the gaming knowledge as an alternative to a financial layer layered on top of an already existing sport loop/mechanics.
5)Can Planet IX raise environmental awareness among Generation Z?
Without a doubt, Planet IX uses its expertise, network, and recently founded sustainability foundation to raise environmental awareness among our clientele.
To begin, we make investments and give to sustainability initiatives through our foundation (supported by sport income), with the initial commitment of 100,000 trees already completed. We’re also creating in-game assets that benefit NGOs and allow customers to discover and donate to various NGOs directly within the game.
Second, our vital sustainability aspect has inspired our group of tens of thousands of people to do good. This includes many grass-roots programs, such as picking up rubbish on beaches and reducing littering, to name a few. They also believe that NFTs and blockchain will become the de facto know-how for NGOs sooner or later and will be one of many driving forces behind environmental consciousness.
6)COP28 will be held in Dubai from November 30 to December 12 in another effort to resist local weather change. What message do you have for COP28?
Contrary to popular belief, blockchain expertise has much to offer in reducing local weather impact. To begin, the feeling in the house is to seek out sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. Second, the efficacy and openness of good contracts and blockchain would significantly improve how non-profits donate and use funds.
7)Is it planned for Planet IX to include cross-chain interoperability?
Cross-chain interoperability is the way forward for web3 and significantly benefits both products and customers. Going cross-chain broadens our reach and makes it easier for clients on multiple chains to enjoy our sport. What is critical, which many overlook, is ensuring that UX/UI does not suffer due to transitioning from a single chain to several chains. We’re working to confirm this before launching the subsequent chain, which could happen in the future.
8)What new opportunities and challenges do you anticipate due to the further growth of esports and competitive gaming? What business models do you believe can sustain this growth?
Esports and blockchain make a lot of sense together. Less administration, lower costs, completely audible, transparent, and accurate sport outcomes, and computerized payouts to champions are all significant advantages enabled by blockchain.
