A decentralized text-based software called Codenamed P92 is being developed by Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta, a social media behemoth.
According to a report, users can access the new app using their Instagram credentials. Adam Mosseri, the latter’s leader, has been chosen to oversee the endeavor. Given that Meta has already been under fire for its management of user data and privacy concerns, many people may not be happy with the new app’s use of existing Instagram data, which includes names, profile photographs, and followers among other things.
In order to address privacy issues before releasing the app to the public, the company also brought on board the legal department.
The Decentralized Social Network
P92 will be built on a decentralized platform akin to Mastodon, which includes Twitter-like microblogging capabilities. The feature set is anticipated to resemble Twitter at debut. The ability to comment on posts and messages will come later, though.
“We’re considering a standalone decentralized social network for exchanging text updates,” a Meta representative told TechCrunch. We think there is a need for a dedicated area where prominent figures and creators may post timely updates about their passions.
The most recent change occurred as Twitter encountered numerous technical issues and outages. Previous to then, anger was raised by Musk’s erratic takeover of the platform. Several users have chosen alternatives like Mastodon and Post. news as a result of these problems.
