McDonald’s Singapore has announced the forthcoming week’s release of 2000 NFTs. McDonald’s, Bandwagon Labs, a provider of metaverse services, and the NFT artist The Hidden Partitions collaborated to create the digital collectibles.
Customers can carry a digital representation of Grimace, a close friend of Ronald McDonald who was initially introduced more than 50 years ago, thanks to the Grimace Digital Collectibles. According to the claim, the collection will be made available without payment; the only prerequisite is having a Digital Collectibles pocket. The MetaMask app and Web3Auth provide the pockets. Each pocket is permitted to mint one NFT, which cannot be sold or given away.
According to McDonald’s, each of the 2,000 digital tokens will serve as a unique representation of the characteristics and essence of Grimace. McDonald’s Senior Director Drina Chee said,
“Many of our superfans have a special place in their hearts for Grimace, and this effort allows us to transform the character from fond memories to a favourite of all ages.”
The major fast-food chain has been active in establishing its presence online. As part of the forty-year commemoration of Rooster McNuggets, McDonald recently, in June, unveiled McNuggets Land on the metaverse platform The Sandbox. The company also shown interest in expanding its offerings to the “digital food and beverage sector” in 2022 by opening stores in the Metaverse.
The addition of McDonald’s Grimace Digital Collectibles to the list of business NFT debuts that the neighbourhood has seen over the past few weeks. Following Reddit’s recent release of fourth-generation NFT collectibles, Coca-Cola recently unveiled their first NFT variety.
