Earlier on December 15, Analyst Viktor Pershikov, in an interview with the 360 TV channel , said that the legalization of cryptocurrency mining will not happen soon, because the laws that could provide it are not yet ready. He noted that the regulation and legalization of the mining industry would be beneficial both for the state and for the miners themselves, who would like to receive a protected status for their business.
On December 9, Mikhail Khardikov, head of the energy business at En +, told Izvestia that the growth in electricity consumption by miners under the guise of “population” in 2021 in the country as a whole could be more than 20%.
As a result, due to the rapid growth of shadow mining of cryptocurrency, which creates an excessive load on the country’s energy system and is not regulated by legislation, in the coming years, Russians may face massive power outages.
