According to Starknet’s decentralization roadmap, the organization wants to move sequencers and provers to a decentralized proof-of-stake protocol for operation. This comprises two strategies: putting in place the essential parts necessary to conduct decentralized protocols and gradually giving stakeholder members of Starknet operational authority.
There are four ways to distribute operational control to Starknet stakers: moving towards a decentralized network architecture while maintaining centralization of sequencer operations; ensuring the availability of a fully open-source software stack; expanding the testing and integration network; and luring stakeholder participation before the sequencer finally switches to proof-of-stake.
